Mermaid Conundrum
This mermaid is a painter, although she certainly isn’t a watercolor painter. Neither watercolors nor acrylics work underwater, so she must be an oil painter. I was an oil painter before turning to watercolor when I moved to Hawai`i in 2000.
Her conundrum: what will she paint? Occasionally, artists struggle with the questions of what to create. The creative urge is inherent in our nature. Some are content to simply create any and everything. Others want their work to hold more meaning than simple beauty. She’s clearly giving a great deal of thought to whatever it is she’ll paint. We’ll wait and see.
