Anuenue Ali`i Wahine
Anuenue Ali`i Wahine
This image came to me one night in a dream and found her way into my journal. I prefer to see my figures facing right, rather than left, because looking to the right symbolizes the future to me, but she came to me looking to the left. A friend reminded me that the left side of the body is the feminine side, so perhaps she’s pointing to the feminine side of life.
Anuenue is the Hawaiian word for rainbow; wahine is the Hawaiian word for woman. Hawai`i is a land of rainbows. Rainbows mean different things in different cultures (pot of gold anyone?). In Hawai`i, they symbolize the presence of gods or ali`i (royalty). This figure was almost titled Anuenue Warrior; instead she is a Queen, symbolizing the strength of women.
No matter what rainbows mean to you, it is my intention that this oracle brings you strength and joy whenever you see her.
