Big Fish, Small Pond
Big Fish, Small Pond
The fish portrayed here are Koi, a type of carp developed by the Japanese centuries ago. Legend tells us koi are strong enough to swim up waterfalls. Koi live very long lives, growing to enormous lengths, and bringing great sums of money when sold. Koi symbolize coming up in the world, prosperity, and longevity.
The Koi in this painting have lived a very long time in this small pond. If they are to continue to grow, they need a bigger pond.
Do you ever feel your life is being lived in a “pond too small” for you? If so, perhaps this piece is speaking to you. Perhaps it’s time to seek a larger audience for yourself, your talents, and your gifts. Most of us want to feel we are living our lives to their fullest. Is it time to expand your life, or to move to a larger “pond?"
