I all but stumbled upon the roots puddling at the base of a banyan tree. The sight of aerial roots descending from tree limbs is amazing, the puddling of roots mesmerizing. The message: Sometimes you rush toward the unknown, or to right a wrong, or to start something new, and the timing’s not quite right. The ground hasn’t had time to prepare for your next steps. The foundation upon which you step is tamped down so hard it can’t soak up your new information as quickly as you’d like. It’s okay. Slow and steady. The drip, drip, drip of a persistent leak, wears away the rock-hard surface on which you stand. Time may or may not be on the side of your seeing the entire change in this lifetime. Do not call it quits or give up hope. So much can happen in a day, a week, a month, a moment. Life doesn’t give up. It moves on when it’s ready — and not before.
